Cherry Blossom Festival アメリカの花見

A friend I met in Tochigi in Japan came down to DC from Pennsylvania to go to the Cherry Blossom Festival with me. The Cherry Blossom festival in America is a bit different from the one in Japan. For example in America, you can't drink alcohol outside, and even though there's perfectly good picnic areas around people enjoy the blossoms while walking.

When I was in Japan I went to the festival about 8 times, in America I only have gone once. I'll explain the reason below.

In America if you say "Cherry Blossom Festival" I think of people walking taking pictures, drinking bottled water, and enjoying the view of the blossoms.

In Japan if you say "Cherry Blossom Festival" I think of spreading out a blue sheet, drinking sake with friends, eating snacks, and meeting people around your picnic area while you sit and enjoy the blossoms.

Doesn't Japan’s way of doing it sound better?
